Activity
Creating a Fall Wreath
For this activity you will be supporting your child as they create a wreath using leaves and other items found in nature. Plan to go for a walk around your neighborhood, or visit some favorite places or even your own back yard. Collect nature treasures such as a variety of leaves (different shapes, sizes, colors) as well as a few other light items such as pine needles or small twigs. Children love to collect things and will enjoy putting their treasures on display!
•For this activity, you will need some glue and a paper plate as the base for your wreath. You will need to cut out the center of the plate to create the wreath.
•Talk to your child about the project, explain they will be selecting items outside to create a fall wreath. Have a discussion about where they would like to collect their items. The backyard? A walk around the neighborhood? The park?
•Next, you will begin your collection, be sure to bring along a small bag or basket for your treasures.
•Once you have all your materials, it’s time to create! Begin by setting up a work space, the glue may get messy, consider laying down newspaper to catch drops of glue.
•When the wreath is complete, place it somewhere to dry and then decide where to hang it!
